Hey Guys,
I ahve done quite a bit of riding when I was younger, but just decided to get back into it and purchased a Specialised Pro 650B (about $800-900) I picked it up on friday ont he way up the coast.
I was pretty excited and even though there was no specific tracks for a mountain bike, I took it out for a spin and did about 3-4 km on the road before going down an out of use 4wd driveway to a beach carpark.
Bike handled really well and I was super impressed by it, however I woke up to both tyres completely flat.
Any advice as to what may have caused this, I didn't run over and glass, sharp rocks, sticks etc (to my knowledge) as I just wanted a quick run to test the gears etc
Only just got back and am at work, so Haven't had a chance to pull them off etc?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I found it quite odd

Doesn't take much to puncture a tyre. There is a good chance you ran over something without seeing it. That is, assuming a smarty pants hasn't let them down!
When you go to repair, note the orientation of the tyres, then find the puncture in the tube and check the corresponding location in the tyre for what might have caused the flat. Nothing worse than repairing or replacing a tube then finding the tyre causes another straight away.

I was in the Local Bike Shop yesterday and they have had a lot of MTBs brought in with punctures from Thorns. Apparently its the thorn hatching season. Sharp little buggers.

The position of the puncture/s on the tube would identify if the rim tape/rim nipple holes were of concern.Nate wrote:check your rim tape

Are the tyres set up tubeless? If so then it could be there was an issue with the setup.
If not, then make sure when you take the tubes out to note how they line up with the tyre, so you can easily spot a thorn or whatever.

May not be punctures just a leakage in both due to age.
The old owner pumped them up and then you rode but overnight if leaked.
New tubes generally hold air well and over time can get worse. If you pump them up and they look good and the next day are empty it is a slow leak.
Could also be tiny punctures, new tubes make sense and I suggest checking the rim and inside of the tyre for debris (etc) before putting new tubes on.
