Tyre Rotation Direction Arrow ... Gone Wrong

Fussing about today setting up my Dice Parts Ollie 80 fatbike rims and managed to fit the front and rear Maxxis Mammoth 26x4.0" EXO tyres with the rotation arrow pointing the wrong way on my Salsa Mukluk.

Given this is a tubeless setup and these tyres are not UST I really don't want to go through the hassle of changing them to the correct rotation unless it is super critical. So the big question does it really matter?

The bike is used for bikepacking and will be used in a upcoming 10 day ride on dirt roads, 4WD sandy tracks, beaches and some bitumen. No technical single track.

I can save you at least 50% of the effort - MTB commonly run the front tyre in the opposite direction for better braking performance.

Given the tread pattern I would probably go to the effort of fixing the rear

If you feel it necessary you can change, on the negative side you will have slightly less grip in very loose sand, dirt, no difference on more compacted surfaces, on the positive side you will get less tyre wear.
With tractor and cart tyres the v grip faces backward for a rolling tyre and forwards for a tyre that digs.

It will make a large difference in sand.

Consider what happens when the tyre slips on the sand - it will either;
tend to dig in - increasing drag, possibly digging down to a firmer surface if you have enough power to dig
tend to ride on top of the surface - possibly slipping on the surface

Go try it .. see what you think. The proof of the pudding is in the eating.

Ah well, that will teach me for not taking proper notice. Of course I don't have enough sealant so will have to get some at local prices ... ouch.

If you're careful taking the tyres off you won't lose any sealant.

I brought some more sealant locally just in case and knowing my skill set Pricing was to say the least interesting. A little comparison:

I’ve read that this stuff is good value for money. Haven’t tried it yet, but a few on rotorburn have recommended it as a budget alternative to Stan’s.
