Cheers all.
Got back from a ride today and noticed when putting the bike away that the chain has jumped off the small cog of the front chainring and is good and jammed against the downtube. I don't want to do damage to the Carbon frame or paint if I can help it (2017 Trek Emonda SL6) ... it won't budge with my fingers. The chain is sitting midway on the rear cassette - I'd appreciate some good advice on getting it clear and re-seated.
I'm assumung I'll just need to remove/adjust the chainring and crank arms yes?
Thanks gents!

Sram is one 8 mm allen key easy job ,
undo retighten once chain is loose
shimano, do you have the tension cap tool?
undo the bolts , release the black wafer thing in the cranks, release the tension in cap,
reverse to retighten , me i just do one good yank, it be free
look at your shifting when you have it out

I'd recommend a K-Edge chain keeper. Bolts on over the top of your FD using a longer bolt. Due to my hybrid 10/11spd front setup, I used to drop the chain once every 2-3 rides. Not anymore.

A back pedal should usually unjam something like this.

BV great ride, had this happen very very badly to a rider and had to take the cranks off to fix it. Paint was damaged and a bit of a gouge on the carbon.

Thanks for the tips gents!
I haven't the tools to fix this at home myself right now so will take it to the local Mech to get sorted and will definitely be installing a chain catcher as recommended! I can see there is already a little paint removed where the chain is jammed but hopefully no gouging to the Carbon Frame ... I don't want this happening again - and while usually OCD about damage or blemishes on Bikes, it's down where you can;t see a thing. Local Bike dealer is the Dealer I bought from so perhaps they have a little touch up paint on hand as well.
Cheers RR.

If you can't find the right touch up paint, try nail polish. It comes in a million different colours and is great for touching up those sort of chips.

Good tip on the fingernail polish ... tough for me though I'm not sure it will be easy to find such an odd shade of flat metalic grey/black DNISTER BLACK for my Trek. Worst come to worst I could get a mix from a spray shop to a price.

Just use clear nail polish, its just to seal the frame, not get fancy
