Hi Everyone,
I have a hope pro 4 rear hub and plan to use an XT 10 speed cassette with it. A spacer came with the hub which says if using a 10msped cassette to install this spacer. Hope also talk about using it with some 11 speed cassettes too.
I gather this spacer goes on the to hub free hub first followed by the cassette. Is this correct?
Also why would hope make this hub longer than neeed?

Further to this I read you may need a 1mm spacer as well. Something to do with 10 sp being slimmer than 9 sp. l have never used the 1 mm spacer ever on any bike with my 10speed setup. I don’t think the new XT cassette even came with this 1mm spacer.

Yes.
(but I say this with the confidence of someone that had to ask someone else about running a 10 cassette on a the hope pro 4 11 speed hub as well....)
Hope is one of those companies that thinks about its users so I think it could have a small swing tag of info on or with the spacer would help that "What do I do with this" doubt. Could be to move it away from the spokes a tad just like the spacer kit gevenalle offers?? ... https://www.gevenalle.com/product/houp/
Being in the most part an off road single speeder I like having that little extra bit of space to stop the want of anything derailleur type wanting to self destruct like jumping into the spokes.

No. The 1mm spacer is ONLY required for Shimano 105, Ultegra and Dura-Ace casssettes; these cassettes are supplied with this spacer. Easy way to note is if the cassette doesn't come with one, don't put one in.uad782 wrote:Further to this I read you may need a 1mm spacer as well. However, use the spacer supplied with the hub; the hub is compatible with road 11-sp. cassettes, so has the longer frewwheel body to suit.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

Perfect Thanks!
So I gather MTB 10 speed were not made narrower than MTb 9 sp cassettes. Based on Duck's comments is it correct to say this only applies to road cassettes?
