Yesterday I serviced a bike to flip and when I test rode it the Kenda tyres were squeaking a bit on the driveway and garage floor. Wasn’t overly concerned as it was going up for sale.
Today I put some budget second hand tyres on a keeper and they are making the same horrid noise. The squeak of rubber on concrete. Being fat bike tyres there is a lot of rubber to squeak and it’s pretty annoying considering the rest of the bike is quiet.
Will it ‘wear off’ soon or is it a special feature of cheaper tyres and I’ll need to upgrade to get rid of it?
I’ve had a bit of a search and found lots of squeaky bike references, but not tyre related.

I think it's more to do with your garage floor than the tyres.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

Is it the tyres, or the surface ?bychosis wrote:Yesterday I serviced a bike to flip and when I test rode it the Kenda tyres were squeaking a bit on the driveway and garage floor. Wasn’t overly concerned as it was going up for sale.

It'd be that very smooth concrete making the tyres squeak...smooth tiles will do the same....you should hear all tyre squeals in my local Woolies underground carpark...just turning your front wheels makes an almighty noise....funnily enough though, if ya tried to chuck a screechy....it only sounds like tyres on a wet road but try and find a park at 5kph and its quite ear breaking with lots of cars vying for carspots.
