Just wondering if anyone would have an idea what this bike is? ... was?!
It's been heavily painted over, but it might be a Giant, but paint is so thick can't read the badge on front. It's got a 4-speed Shimano Nexus gear hub, model no. SG-4R31. Not sure if the handlebars are original, but by the look of them, I suspect not.
Bike ID - possibly Giant, gear hub, upright

Got a pic that might show some hint of the head badge or other details?
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

This is about as good as I can get it. The photo looks bad, but in person it's not any easier to make anything out. It does look like a G I on it.Duck! wrote:Got a pic that might show some hint of the head badge or other details?

Yes, that is an old, probably early '90s Giant badge. Unfortunately it's from before my time in the trade, so I can't be any more specific on the model.

I think they got a vat of paint and dipped the bike in it!P!N20 wrote:Quality paint job.

Yes it looks like a Giant.
It could be a Giant bike made for the Dutch/European market. I remember when Omafiets in Sydney started they had a heap of second hand Giant's that were spec'd exactly like dutch bikes with internal hub gears, fenders, racks, and a super-upright riding position. I wasnt aware at the time they made bikes for the European market because they'd never sell them in Australia,
