Hairline marks on chainstay

Postby mangoman » Mon Aug 06, 2018 7:07 pm

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts, advice as to how dangerous the hairline marks on the chainstay of this carbon frame is. So the pictures are from the inside and bottom of the rear of the chain stay on drive train side (i think thats the correct description).

Bought it second hand, and wondering if its a right off :(

Generally speaking i'm pretty conservative with safety I'm really umming and ahhing about it even though it looks minor.

I'm a noob cyclist (not looking to race, just looking for a light bike to try and ride further), are the marks consistent with a crash on the side? I personally would think that the location of the marks imply its been pushed on pretty hard against the frame next to the cassette. No visible marks anywhere else around the axle.

Many Thanks,
Martin

Scratches in the clearcoat with accumulated gunge, highlighted by the white paint. Nothing to fear.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.
