I'll say, the other bloke has just seen the remnants of a wheel coming sideways at him!!

I'd like to know the story, that's all kind unusual. Tubular rips off completely (as they often do), rim breaks at either join or valve hole, wheel collapses. What came first, though, and why?

Zero history came with the shot i'm afraid. I'll look into it a bit more and see what i can find. Gotta be some hospital records for sure !!! :D

Tyre rolled first (its still inflated) rim failed from side load.

I've seen singles roll in the straight from the rider turning the front wheel sharply after being hooked. This photo looks pre sprinters lane.
