Thanks for that site link Brenton. 8) The bloke at the 1.02min mark when he kicks, I thought he was going to grind his nose on the front tyre.

I think, six day racing is one of the best forms of the track scene and very good for sorting out your abilities and fitness.

Gary,
I know you understand, and enjoy all the video varieties of those 6-Days on that site.
For those interested, you can see the bike handling, and the great spectacle that can be had
on the smaller Tracks, and the great atmosphere of the large crowds, in that era. It was the heydays.
It was still going, though not quite as big, even up to the late seventies, and maybe even 80's.
Most top Roadies, road the Track and particularly the 6-Days. Multitasking was the norm.
Cheers

And this is why I like Bobridge, Renshaw and even Cav - they do it all because they really love riding. Even though some people find Cav to be a douche, he still competes in his local club crits when he's in town and he still rides for his national team.

Velodrom d’Horta
The velodrome, designed by Esteve Bonell and Francesc Rius, was built in 1984 as the first of
Barcelona’s construction projects in preparation for the bid for the 1992 Summer Olympics in 1986.
It was the first velodrome built to new FIAC rules permitting a 250 m (270 yd) track
if surfaced with wood.
The building won the FAD architecture prize in 1985.

It was the last permanent open-air velodrome used for Olympic Track Cycling events
(Atlanta’s velodrome at Stone Mountain in 1996 was temporary).
Olympic velodromes have been built with a roof since 2000.

Note the reversed forks used for motor pacing so you can get closer to the roller bar and a better draft.

Mike thought the original photo address may have given it away.
Anyway (when I quote, on this site, it comes from facts)
Here from Piet's site. The Original photo.
http://www.piet-dickentman.de/5.html
Photo no. 29/74
Image

p.d. (piet-dickentman) behind Bretschneider and Steger with OWM-medal.
Which I must think is his 1903 medal-O.W.M (World Championship)
CHAMPIONNATS DU MONDE PISTE - Demi-Fond - Hommes - 1903.
Hope that helps.
