40 laps? I think the longest was 12 laps though I was paying more attention to getting photos than counting the laps. I did want to get out there. The C grade looked smaller yesterday. One guy stopped pedaling by error and the results were graphic.

I saw the photos Chris and noticed that you captured the point where his back wheel left the ground. Poor Sid.

Ouch. Hopefully no major injuries? I was disappointed to miss last night, great to hear the rain stayed away long enough for the night to go ahead:)

Few spots of rain near the end - not much. Today of course was cancelled - and that happens Friday night instead.

He was okay, just some minor grazing on the shoulder and elbows. I couldn't believe that the other two didn't get taken out. He was in the middle and they were either side. His son seemed more interested in seeing the photo of dad's big crash. Kids! I'm sure dad didn't find it quite so amusing.

Qld Masters States over the weekend at Chandler. I raced in the 3000 IP & the 666m (Masters 4) and picked up PBs for both (as well as a 500 split) so i achieved what i set out to do. I didn't have ambitions and capabilities mixed up so i knew i wasn't going to trouble the faster and fitter blokes, but i beat myself which, to me, is what it is about.

Foo, Ronnie Hickson did very well, picked up a couple of Golds including a SR in the flying 200 of 12.90.

I learnt heaps, particularly about what's needed to be competitive with regard to training. A great event, not made possible without those volunteers giving up their time to ensure things happen

Cheers

Nice! Whatever the program they have going with the kids uniforms and the little bikes is great, they have crazy amounts of juniors.

We have two junior teams, the Pixies (all girls) and the Jets (all boys), plus other junior riders not in the teams. The ones shown here are only a small portion of our juniors. We often get from 35-50 juniors at our Friday night track racing. I wish we regularly got that many seniors.

Also pictured in g-boaf's excellent shots are Stelio Pappas, former Fat Mans Wheel Race winner, and John Ferranda, 1964 Grafton to Inverell winner.

Would john be the father of Ivan and David? I raced against those guys as a kid.

You gotta love the FMWR.

Yep, that's him. Still going strong in E grade, usually winning his money back. He showed up to a retro event recently with his fully restored bike from 1964 along with the yellow jersey from the event. Original bike, jersey and rider! He's a really nice bloke as well and happily works the lap counter when he's out at the track.

Last year in MMAS3. I was off in the last pair - fastest times posted on the score board were 3:44 and 3:47. I was rolling comfortably around with the intent of saving myself for the final and to just make sure I was under 3:47; did this riding 3:45.

Found out a little while later that a previous rider was made to go another lap and had actually ridden 3:38. So I was now in the Bronze ride off! Comfortably won the bronze with a 3:43 which was 2 seconds faster than Silvers ride in the final...

Now just on two weeks before the Nationals. 8)

fast time dalai and the double disk wheels look sweet. I would of joined you for the national, but I'm sick having missed NSW champs I don't see myself in good enough condition to justify the trip to Melbourne.

brades what time did you do in the IP? Is your track a 333mtr outdoor concrete track?
If the R-1 rule is broken, what happens to N+1?

Hard to justify traveling interstate unless you are racing a number of the events and feeling on top of your game... Hope you get better soon!

Comparing the Victorian and Queenslan Masters results with the NSW results, the cockraoches are gonna clean up the green and gold jerseys in most events. My brother won the NSW MMAS5 pursuit and is 5 seconds quicker than his Victorian and Queensland counterparts. Jayson is 8 seconds quicker in MMAS3. NSW riders would be advised to make that flight. Unfortunately my brother cant get time off work so he will miss an almost certain Australian Title. I also cant get 4 days off but may possibly fly in on the weekend just for the Team Pursuit, depending on who wins at DGV this Sunday.

I did a Sunday for my time - Started Saturday arvo, finished Sunday morning.
No, i'm a long way from quick, 4:44, my first IP at states with a training regime that, in hindsight, wasn't tailored right. It wouldn't have compensated for my lack of ability, but i still enjoyed having a go - mind you at the time and just after, enjoyed, wasn't a word that came to mind :) But i'll be back next year, this is my 3rd year of track so i'm getting the hang of it and I plan to be better prepped (hopefully!)

The Gold ride was about 3:40 from memory.

And yes, a 333m outdoor concrete track - no board track, or undercover track is in Qld until they start construction of the new one for the Commonwealth Games. The wind was not helpful either - especially on the home straight - just about all weekend.

Cheers

Patton is multiple Australian Pursuit champion.
He had a bit of practice taking out the NSW pursuit as well, leading up to nationals. 3:29, ten seconds quicker than anyone in NSW.
I walked the line for him a couple of years ago. Got a look at his schedule. He was riding 102 inches.
