2013 Fuji Track 1.1 vs 2012 Fuji Track 2.0

Postby jack2706 » Sat Oct 20, 2012 11:11 am

Im looking at purchasing a new track bike namely the either
2013 Fuji Track 1.1 http://www.bikeexchange.com.au/bicycles/fuji/track/track-1-1/townsville/qld/102151037
2012 Fuji Track 2.0. http://www.bikeexchange.com.au/bicycles/fuji/track/track-2-0/northcote/vic/102143521

I plan to use on a flat track (with strong head winds in arvo) for road bike cross training.

There is a bit of price gap but as I look down the spec sheet, I notice that the main difference (appears to me to be) is just the crankset Track 1.1 SRAM Omnium Vs Track 2.0 Fuji CGC. The Track 2.0 also looks predrilled and fitted for brakes.

What are your thoughts on the SRAM Omnium and Fuji CGC - has anyone ridden on both cranks? how did you find the performance, quality? Is the SRAM a step backwards?

Am I missing any other key differences btw the 2013 Fuji Track 1.1 and 2012 Fuji Track 2.0. What are your thoughts on the Fuji track itself? pos/negs ? Is it worth buying the 1.1 over the 2.0?

Also, how does the Fuji track compare to the say 2011 Giant Omnium which also runs SRAM Omnium.

Finally, of the three choices which would you put your money on......

Whichever is cheapest . Cranks make no difference. I've always thought the ominum overpriced.
ProLite make a great track bike for a very reasonable price

For me I would say it's between the Giant and the 1.1. The Omnium is a well regarded crankset, it just has clearance issues with some frames, which obviously shouldn't be the case here as the frames come with them. I have no comment on the Fuji crankset as I have never seen one or seen a review of one. The frame on the 2012 2.0 you will likely find is the frame that is on the newer 1.1. Considering cranksets are something that a lot of people upgrade, I would see that as something of a bonus with the 1.1 and Giant. The Giant certainly has a good reputation.
