Which track clincher Tyres would you recommend.

I currently have Vittoria Zaffiro Slick Foldable 700c x 23c which need replacing.

I only use indoors and for training. Not looking ATM at racing, but not ruling it out.

What would you recommend?

Continental Grand Prix Supersonic Road Bike Tyre Folding 700 x 20
Brilliant indoors and outdoors. Get them on Ebay for $62 each.

Indoor wooden velodrome, go Vittoria Evo Pista 19mm - fabulous light race tyre, get them from the UK, approx. $100 each?

I have been reading a little about these. Some goods reviews by people/riders.

For a clincher tough enough for training and fast enough to race when you decide to I recommend the Vittoria Diamante Pro Light tyre.

I second these. They were on my first track bike when I got it. They lasted 2 years on our asphalt track for both training and racing. Last season, I put on a set of Conti SuSos and they cut up a bit, and even more suprisingly cut up pretty bad down at DGV. The rear is now retired after half a season on our track and 5 RAW meets at DGV. I jumped on some more Vittorias for this season.

Regardless of Conti or Vittoria, you should be able to grab either for under $50 on a regular basis from the usual euro shops.

Just curious why you would choose the Vittoria Diamante Pro lite and not the Pro Pista? The pista is a track tyre?

They are what came with my first track bike when I bought it. They were also recommended to me and as I have been happy with them have continued buying the Pro Lights...

I've found they work really well on timber indoors as well as concrete. And like Brawlo, on the rear I've found it last a couple of seasons racing and training mostly on our clubs concrete track. Though now they are relegated to training duty as I race on tubulars these days.

I guess when you're riding on outdoor tracks it would help with grip and less wear. Good call. Thanks

I've decided to go with the Vittoria Diamante Pista Pro. With only indoor riding I think these will be great.
Thanks for your help

I ordered my Tyres from chainreaction a few weeks ago. But unfortunately my order has gone missing. So I'm receiving a refund. Don't want to wait again for the Vittorias, so I've gone found an Australian seller and bought the Veloflex Records 20.
They were delivered this morning and they are already on the bike. They look great. Can't wait to try them out. Will try this Saturday.

Any need to scrub in?

I've bought a few things from these guys online. Aussie distributors of Vittoria i think, and they've always been quick with good pricing. They have the Diamante Pro Pista for $57 with free shipping for orders over a hunge.

Time to bring back an old question.

I'm looking around the usual sites for clincher tyres primarily for indoor track training use (but wouldn't want to dismiss a little outdoor track use either). I found these this morning, what would be the better option?

The Vittoria Diamante Pro Light Road Tyre (http://www.probikekit.com.au/bicycle-ty ... 77022.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) or

The Vittoria Diamante Pro Pista (http://www.this link is broken/vittoria-diaman ... cher-tyre/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

I don't appear to find anywhere stocking the Veloflex Record 20s to consider them.

Cheers

The later (pista version) doesn't have a puncture protection belt so is 20g lighter...

However you don't need puncture protection on a velodrome, so better to be 20gms lighter

I was just noting the apparent difference. Either will be fine...

Plus the pista is cheaper out of the links you posted. Pista for sure.

Sorry, I can't help you as I was 16yrs the last time I did that. Singles all the way for me onhe track, much easier to control the bike, in the event of a puncture or blowout. [emoji57]

Do you remember the old Mitchell track tires we used to use hell to get on had to use talc powder but they were fast

I remember using the Mitchell track tyres back in the 70's when I raced as a juvenile. Gee they were hard to get a hold of in Hobart and us smart people always had a few spares under the bed. Gees I am showing my age now!

Cheers for the opinions. In the end, thinking they might be a little more robust, I went for the Diamante Pro Light Roads in case I decide to try an outdoors velo.
