Malcolm Kamp Memorial Race

Postby foo on patrol » Sat Nov 15, 2014 4:20 pm

There will be a race meeting at Chandler on the 13th of December with the gates opening at 2pm.

Mal was one of my best mates that got killed by a Car Carrier two an a half years ago. Ipswich Club is conducting it and there will be a number of the old gard meeting in the grandstand for a catch up. :D

An amazing ride by Ben Price, to win the first Malcolm Kamp Memorial Race, from scratch.

Good stuff. I hadn't been able to put anything into this thread since I didn't know Mal, and I wasn't able to make it, but I hope that it becomes a permanent fixture. I like it when the scratch men get up, but especially when it is only in the last 50m or so.

I went to the Austral last night and thought the Women's Austral was a better race than the Men's. The winner Brooke (daughter of Kenrick?) Tucker made a brave bid for victory with 1.5 laps to go by breaking away from the mid markers before the scratch riders got to them. She held on for the win with both back markers getting to within a bike length at the end. Great stuff.

In contrast the men's race the scratch men made contact a 2 laps to go and from there it was just a scratch race. (a great finish, but not a great handicap).

Cheers,

Cameron.

I don't do not my best, hence my sig of.......... So long as you have tried your best, you should have no regrets.

The thing is, we of the old guard don't ride to make up numbers but ride to take no prisoners, so I put a lot of pressure on myself, even against much younger riders.

I have Silver State medals and want the Gold one that alluded me, after being hit by the truck.

Focus on the fun and the results will come. :D

Gotta love the dipchit that posted out my CA License card! They stuck it right over the top of my pass word, so that when I peeled it off the letter, I also peeled the bloody password off, so I still can't register for the Ipswich Carnival.

I'd be giving CA a call on Monday unless the entry needs to be in this weekend. If it does then I'd look at contacting the organiser and / or see if Cycling Qld allows you to fax in an entry?

Got my name in the hat for this now but it took until 7pm last night to get the new pin number.

I couldn't print out a form, because my printer wouldn't print. :x

One week today and my journey to form starts again. :D Must say I'm looking forward to it but with some trepidation because of my limited ability to train. :(

There are two Austrian riders coming and they are giving a bloke that normally rides from scratch, 90mtrs.

No no, I do it for the hurt factor and to inflict pain on others that are lest fit than me, although being less fit than me, wouldn't be very hard for anyone else, at the moment.

Happy to say that my return went ahead. [emoji468]

I pretty much went as I thought that I would. The legs were good for two and a half laps at full tilt.
