It was a great night, as it always is, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season. I haven't been on a track bike or even in a bike race since December, so I was a bit rusty. I got done on the sprint - Vikings dude needs to go up a grade, he was coming around me from 3rd wheel with 3/4 of a lap to go then won by over a length, which is BS, and then I got pipped on the line for 2nd, but that was a proper steal and full credit to young Rowan for jumping on my wheel when I told him to.
I miscounted on the point a lap and cracked. I can go hard from the gun and keep it up for 3 laps, but I was thinking the whistle would be on 2 laps then a point on the third, but it was the whistle on the third, after which I was toast. I took 3 riders with me when I took off at the start and they all went on to claim the points, the rest of the pack couldn't get back on after that. I did that same thing last year from the gun, took one point and sat up, and ended up with second since only one rider came with me who then went on to take all of the other points.
It felt wonderful to be back on the boards and racing again. We'll see how my new body composition works this season.
