Which Chainrings

Hi Guys

Need to buy so chainrings to suite my new bike. Is there any brand better then another?
I have also looked at some of the used NJS Dura-ace (FC-7600) ones on ebay and NJS-Exports. Are these still Ok as they seams to cost about the same as the cheapest new chainrings ( not dura-ace of course)?

They are all the same mate. I buy mine from 2 Ebay sellers in Japan, the second hand NJS ones, about $40-$50 each. Usually he stocks Sugino or DuraAce, both excellent brands. And they show little sign of use.
Yeah just whatever you can lay your hands on. Make sure they are 144BCD and 1/8 thick.

I have heard it said that the Sugino and DA chainrings use an alloy that is a lot better wearing than others and so should last you a lot longer. I'm a fanboy of ex NJS stuff and have used Phil_the_power_taylor on ebay and also NJS Export when he didn't have what I wanted. GR8 Designs based in Melbourne is also getting a good following if you want to buy locally. I think their common ring sizes are about $70.

I only ever ran Sugino ring for my Track Bikes and for that matter, Road Bikes as well. Just couldn't see the point in spending extra $$ for the same wear.

I had do delete stuff as I don't totally agree with DD.

And whilst I'm being disagreeable, 144BCD and 1/8" running gear is the most common, and most accessible. It is far from necessary.

I'm running 130BCD and 9spd chains on a track tandem.

Oh I agree with you mate ...my comment was just to ensure the OP bought rings that are compatible with his bike.

144BCD is what I have so that is what I have been looking at. Just wasn't sure about buy some of this used equipment.
