Would you still recommend 175mm cranks to a shorter rider (170cm)?
I've got this conundrum where I can get low enough on my frame, but even with 165mm cranks I've got quite a tight hip angle so if I went longer that might not be ideal... Perhaps I'd benefit from a steeper seat tube angle. I ride 172.5mm on the road/TT with no issues, just been suggested to me that I should give 170mm a shot.

The extra length changes foot velocity. Another way to change foot velocity is to change the gearing. Approx one tooth on the big ring is equivalent to 5mm crank length
If the R-1 rule is broken, what happens to N+1?

Makes sense, since I'm nowhere near maxing out my gearing I might give the 170mm a go...
Also, going back to frames, just spotted this on ebay/aliexpress the 54 would be a good fit for me. The BB is nice and high, and the front center is generous. Perhaps another option?

I still ride pursuits with 170's as I'm too lazy to change the arms to 175's. Now I have a second wired Track SRM, I may finally swap over the arms on one unit and trial the longer cranks for pursuits.usernameforme wrote:Don't mean to threadjack this thread, but what sort of crank lengths are people riding for a pursuit? Do you change your cranks out for other events? Currently riding 165mm but tempted to give 170mm or 172.5mm a shot because that's what I ride on the road...
Length cranks on my other bikes:
175mm TT, CX, Road and MTB
172.5mm Fixed gear commuter
