Thanks Foo, great to meet you too. I'm not as old, not as fuller framed but slower than you. I nearly got a cold when you come around me in the keirin! But you did have a good sit
And how good was it for the Silver Fox to place in that race?
@theaurthurdog, our only available date in January was smack bang in the middle of Junior & Masters States. Brisbane clubs are notoriously poor supporters of regional events so the consideration was they wouldn't travel anyway so close to States (which we have to anyway - don't start me about a rocky to brisbane round trip for my u13 girl to race 2 races at Nundah 2 yrs ago because CQ wouldn't provide a road race for u9,11 & 13 or track states for a grand total of about 4 min racing) so it was pushed to end of season in the hope those south of the Pine River would make an effort. Nope. It was in the CQ Calendar...... admittedly not as early as it should have been, but that wasn't because of the Club. I'm sure you'll be able to workout where that communication bottleneck was :/
Not only did Foos crew (poetry!) from Ipswich turn up, we had a good crew from Townsville, Bundy, Mackay and Cairns as well as Conor Rowley (Vic), man i'd hate to feed him, William Keys from Bendigo, a young bloke from UQ and a few young blokes from Bris.
Everyone had a great time, no crashes, and a lot of support from the crowd and other riders.
2 races spring to mind, the first A grade Mens Scratch where Alex Clairs, Connor Reardon, Bailey Goltz and Jake Van Der Vliet ripped the field apart and after Lara Tucker did a Flying 200 she was challenged to race a standing lap by one of our little (and i mean little, baggy knicks little) u9 girls! Foo wouldn't have heard Mia blowing up when she was given the inside, she wanted the outside! She got an early push..... by the Chief Commisaire .... so it was legit and eventually Lara was turned lose to do the right thing and catch her but 'let' her win. Memories created there!
The other race of note (in my eyes!) was when i romped home in the 3 lap scratchie. By romped i mean i barely dragged myself across the line somehow managing to keep my lungs and heart inside my chest! I was so happy coming up to the finish and not seeing any shadows sweeping up behind me. I'm sure a couple of my club mates controlled things a little for me. I might try this training thing before next year.
See you next year!
Cheers
Mick
