Should I race new TT bike or learn to ride it properly firstI pick up my new TT bike on Saturday and I'm entered in Tour of Bright (Stage 2 is ~16km ITT) which starts 5/12. Not much time to get used to the new bike, never really ridden a TT bike much before, borrowed a friend's one for a couple of days previously and did some training and was starting to get the hang of it. Should I use my new TT bike for Bright or get to know it a bit better first and save it for another race?
Re: Should I race new TT bike or learn to ride it properly firstI think the number one issue is whether you'll be familiar with it to ride safely, then you can consider if you'll be able to perform on it. The decision should simple once these questions have been answered.
Bianchi, Ridley, Montague, GT, Garmin and All things Apple
Re: Should I race new TT bike or learn to ride it properly firstThat depends on the course. If there are some fast tricky descents and you’re not used to your aero bars and you hands not being near you brakes then I would suggest not. If it’s flat and straight go for it.
The main advantage of the TT bike is the aero position of the rider if you are not comfortable, powerful and safe in this position then there is not much advantage to using the TT and you should stick with what you know. Good luck!
Re: Should I race new TT bike or learn to ride it properly firstIt's not rocket science and you are not riding in a pack. 16km is not far and I'm sure it cost you enough
Re: Should I race new TT bike or learn to ride it properly firstDid you get the bike? How does it ride?
