21/3/2010 20k TT

Postby RobRollin » Sun Mar 21, 2010 3:25 pm

Last TT of the season today with a handicap championship, the handicap times based upon the two previous races. With a slight 14kmh westerly wind and rain prior to the start the course was slippy but pretty fast. I wanted to do a personal best for 20k.

Started off strong, had to be careful on the corners, luckily there wasn't any rain coming down but it was cold and I started cold without a real warm up. First 2kms were very quick, next 2.5 there was a slight cross wind, next 5kms I was up around 37kmh. The last 10kms I knew were going to be hard but I was pacing myself. And in the last 5kms I put the hammer down with my legs hurting and lungs burning.

Crossed the line and knew I had a personal best time. Strangely my HR was down on what I have avg previously around 175, my resting heart rate has also dropped to around 56bpm.

All in all a great race, the weather didn't hamper me, other riders found it too slippy but it wasn't as bad as the previous race, and there were no crashes.

Distance 21.4kms
Time 37.14
Avg Speed 34.15
Max Speed 39.04
Cadence 98
Watts 288
Avg HR 169
Calories 1256
