Elbow Supports - Position

Postby ft_critical » Thu Sep 29, 2016 3:36 pm

Hello BNA Fit Team...

Someone I know who is not me (SIKWINM), bought a Cevelo P3 that is size large, when they should have bought one that is size M. 58cm top tube, not 54cm top tube.

Cunningly, SIKWINM has a set of elbow supports that fit onto the handlebar extensions and can be fitted behind the handlebar, stacked to the right height - so they are around the headtube. No mention of this in the picture or text. Legal?

Okay it is me, don't be angry with me.

The problem some face however is it can bring the elbow supports close the the rising knee. Maybe not when in TT position but it can be a bit tricky if doing any out of saddle riding, e.g. going up a steep pinch. If the frame is too big, then that may not be a problem.

It sounds like you bought two sizes too large. Isn't there a 54, 56 and 58?

Thanks Alex, you are correct. I have the extensions sitting back already, close to the headtube. It is actually not too bad, if I ever had to sprint it, though, that would be a problem.

Yes JK, indeed there is. There is M, M/L and L.

It is not that uncomfortable, I just feel I am too stretched out to effectively get the power out. By moving the elbow supports back I can arch my back a bit more. It will be closer to the position I have on my road bike in the drops. I have always felt unable to put out power on the bike compared to my road bike. I know that is common even when properly fitted (to the correct size bike) but I think this will help. I will let you all know how it goes. I don't think there will be any impact to handling.

It required some support (so to speak) from Bunnings.

Sounds like you need to get further forward... try an ISM saddle. I'm trialling one on my roadie, it puts you a good 2-3 inches further forward than a normal saddle. Have had to slam it all the way back. busters_saddles on eBay has them very cheap

I have an ISM saddle. I have taken it off. It is too wide. I have this horrible thin long nosed saddle that allows me to get forward.

If I point my toes enough I can hit the backs of my arms Triceps... With my knees
