i find it dangerous to slipstream. you just can't predict what the person ahead or behind is going to do, a lot of the time. a have a colleague who loves slipstreaming, he regularly complains to me about being abused for it, but refuses to take the hint..

it's safer to keep a couple of lengths distance. you'll get fitter too :)

Most commuters I see just leech on and wheelsuck as long as they can. If you're going to do that at least take a turn up front.

As someone else said, it's a commute, not a race. No PB's or jerseys for being first up the hill or anything else. You want to race, join a club and do so.

I was hit from behind by another pushie a few weeks ago. I was stationary, and the bike which hit me was a big old mtb, moving fairly slowly. Big old mtb was fine, my back wheel was toast.
