Ultegra - it works!
Postby lemmiwinks » Tue Feb 24, 2009 2:39 pm
I'm using my future group ride/race bike to commute on so I've got a couple of shake down runs on it before bunch riding this afternoon. I ended up buying a Shimano Ultegra 42T chainring because that was all they had in the shop... Well this morning I did my commute in 16m 10s! Smashed my previous PB of 16m 45s, and that's not even taking into account the 15 or so seconds I wasted riding out the driveway, realising I wasn't wearing my helmet and riding back in to get it. So really my commute was in the 15m bracket and it's all thanks to fancy bike parts

Do you think the steel 52T chainring beside it cancels out the Ultegra goodness? Maybe it was the upgrade from my usual Huffy chain to a Shimano one that did it.

That symptom sounds like the onset of upgradeitis! Call the doctor quick.
