Perth today :) And it's a full moon.
Saw one other rider, I shouted "nice weather", she replied "it's beautiful".
40kph enabling tail wind on a flat coastal section I normally cruise ~32kph in neutral conditions, down to 25kph in a common head wind.
Despite the drenching first 5min in outbound this morning, and similar first 5-10min glass bead blasted face like Terminator 2 on the return trip home, mostly I was lucky with no other rainfall just strong winds.

Paths were vacant of the 3 abreast city to surf runners doing last 2 weeks of prep. The Pokemon players also kept indoors so none straying in the usual traps.

Found my spray jacket tucked away in my MTB camelbak on Monday, it's been in hiding since May. Made the cool, calm commute a lot more pleasant using it as a windbreak.

Left in sunshine this morning, donned my sunnys and arrived in thick drizzle and soaking wet. Great. Even rode the good bike in thinking the weather would be fine.

rule number 1 in Brisbane - don't listen to the weather man, check the radar (and look outside)

I pulled up at a set of lights yesterday and the brother in law and kids were next to me.... pressure was on...the lights went green and I stuffed up clipping in so he got the jump but I quickly caught him and I just hit 50km/hr when he had to slow down for traffic and I was goneee..... thank god for the traffic as I was stuffed. Have been racing scooters when I can...there are some good high speed sectons and the speed limit is 50km/h although traffic keeps it down to 40ish

Perth:

Whoo whoo! My first all-the-way-in to Perth for coffee and all-the-way-out ride since the heart arrest. Never felt pushed at all and the weather followed the forecast and remained still and dry in the early morning.

I think my Mojo is coming back. :)

nice job Colin. Good to hear you are still out and about.
My week is a bit of a disaster again sadly. I have (another) funeral to go to tomorrow so no commuting.
So I went and did a group ride this morning, went home, swapped bikes, and then rode to work. Had a massage yesterday so the legs aren't the happiest. The weather for the next few days is going to be crappy in Brisbane so was happy to get in some kms whilst I could.
adam0bmx0 - that group ride I did this morning is one you should do.

Had an easy commute to work this morning ... I am stuffed, cant remember my last day off the bike and have being racing cx every weekend for a while but its up hill going to work so took it as easy as i could....and that was also the plan for coming home but had an idiot pullout in front of me and then when he saw me he stopped... back wheel was locked up but somehow missed him...was a 40km plus when he pulled out...then on my favourite stretch of road/lights I pulled up behind a couple of scooters so taking it easy went out the door as we raced...ok I chased them from set of lights to set of lights and we all turned off at the same intersection, the first scooter jumped in between cars a bit early and the 2nd scooter got in behind the front car...I went for it but had to back off as the car cornered a bit wide but planted it on the up hill section as the scooter passed the car and I got the jump and didnt look back...missed the kom by 1 sec...again ....fun ride home .... only have 1 more day commuting and then a break as I head to Wellington and Melbourne.

The Olympics are over (boo hoo) so my sleeping patterns have got back to normal and I had my first commute since they started. It was rather chilly. My nose and fingers have defrosted now I'm in the office.

In contrast, warmest commute of winter for me in Brisbane, must've been high teens when I left the house at 8:15am. Very warm.

adam - if you thought yesterday was warm, this morning will take the cake. BOM said it was 20 degrees at 5am. I got in to work with some damp roads and few puddles. It did try and drizzle a few times but it didn't amount to more than a few drops.

Only a little moist on the M2 commute this morning.
Second puncture in 3 days on a quite worn rear tyre so it needs to be swapped now. I thought I'd get a few more weeks out of it.
Looks likely that I'll cop a lot of rain this arvo though.

It did indeed take the cake, warmest winter day on record apparently!

Was around 21 degrees by the time I left home!

Aye, good tailwind this morning, but changed direction sometimes, so felt like a strong headwind!

Had a strong guy on a single speed keep up on my way in, good riding. :)

Felt pretty strong going home last night. Still passed by everyone, but I felt strong. That counts, doesn't it?

First day back after a skiing holiday to be met by multiple idiots - the photo shoot on the bike path, complete with model pretending to run, the MGIF cyclist who had to overtake on a narrow blind corner, the idiots parking on the path, yet again.
