Stomach cramped up something wicked on the way home last night at about the 20km mark. Note to self: do not eat the ref nachos :x

Still conducting system tests on the headlight, after I got home I left it to run right down and it went a good 2 hours after the low-battery warning, so that makes me feel better since I want to be able to trust it. After a full discharge/charge this morning, will see what happens tomorrow ... (riveting, I know ...)

had an incident this morning. less than 500m from home going straight through a green light, a car coming the other way turns right in front of me. it's a dead end street. I knew exactly where they were going. Went and had a chat. Driver apologised, she didn't see me (I had my lights on, wasn't riding in the gutter). She was shaking, I wasn't. She'll pay more attention from now on.

Nice rides last night and this morning. Brakes seem to be working better, although sometimes a bit squealy. But I can live with that if they are properly contacting the rim.

Lovely mild weather this morning, got by quite happily with a t-shirt with merino zip-up cardy. PSP detour is adding a good 5-10 mins to my commute, looking forward to it being over so I can have a few more 'z's when it starts getting really cold.

Treated myself to an Allegro brass bell - so shiny and I loved the sound, had to have it. Being as shiny as it is, it has the unintended consequence of an extreme-fish-eye mirror effect. And of course I'm leaning into it chest-first; my reflection looks like the bow-legged offspring of Dolly Parton and a spider monkey

Glad you survived intact and the driver took it on board rather than blaming you.

I've only seen one poor guy get hit in exactly this circumstance, female driver turned across without seeing him (broad daylight), he tried turning down the side street and braking but ended up on her bonnet. He got a cut knee and one on the back of his head, his very expensive road bike got its back end smashed up, but he took it largely in his stride. Whereas the driver was absolutely in shock, shaking and apologising etc.

Not much to report, still good weather here in Melbourne, only fly in the ointment is a rather gusty northerly that's been making me work hard on the home-bound commute.

Happy Friday! :D

Unless you have a belt drive, in which case he will inform you there is something wrong with your bike (and I will argue the opposite).

Got a thorough honking tonight for the crime of not running a red light. Waiting to turn left as was the car, light go green except for a red arrow due to pedestrians crossing. Idiot seemed so intent on bike hate they didnt pay the lights any attention.

apart from that the weather has been awesome this week
