had an ebike overtake me on bicentennial bikeway this arvo. I averaged 39 along there. He overtook me like I was standing still. Caught up to him at Sylvan Rd lights. He didn't like my suggestion that his bike was producing more than 250w

At last, it rained heavily on me......I bought a new rain jacket before Easter and really been hangin to try it out in anger. Verdict: Excellent. For me at least, and that's what matters :)

No, it's not a showerspass.

Instead of going around the CCT from St Georges Rd today, I decided to cut through the city on Canning St then onto La Trobe. Way less interesting, lots of stop start and too many entrants for the Dumb Pedestrians thread on LaTrobe St.

What's so hard to understand about "It's a f$cking bike lane, don't stand in the middle of it!"?

Looking at the hub motor diameter in the photo it would be 1000w probably powered from a 48v battery.

That's "Night Fury".

Turns out he lives around the corner from me. 1500W DIY project. Very quite. He's quite responsible with it by my observations though.

i didn't say he wasn't responsible (this is the commute thread, not the dumb cyclist thread). passing me at 50km/hor over barely pedaling gives away that it's more than 250w....

Yep - Night fury is pretty quick ;-)

PS Jason - my new velomobile is on a ship which just docked into Brisbane this morning. I should have it by next weekend. Full carbon and more aero = lighter, stiffer, faster. On the flat, it should be about 10km/hr faster than my old velomobile. Climbing performance should also be much better. Please keep to the far left of the path ...

would have to be the quickest way between Jindalee and cbd....don't know how he hasn't been busted though.
if I had that much power, I'd mostly stick to the road.

Cold this morning...like 4 degrees or something. Rode home Saturday with one of the blokes here. I'm not as slow as I thought....took over 1.25 hrs to get home, same way as usual. normally 44-48 minutes. Was nice and relaxing though :)

Foul weather for the trip in today, 14C, heavy rain and lots of wind. On the bright side, was mainly a tailwind. Missing the mudflap on the front guard :(

Same, was going to do Cootha but thought a direct ride in will do, and I needed the sleep

Beautiful ride in this morning, even with the chill. I was ready for said chill as I'd been out earlier for my morning run. A lovely hot hot shower and I was ready to get out and pedal!

waited as late as I could. drizzle, dark skies and wet roads for the ride home. the rest of the week is meant to be good.

Today was my penultimate day of half commutes before I'm "allowed" to ride the whole way again. Bit worried that I'm turning soft with a nice warm train half way to work. Not looking forward to frozen hands later in the week!

Still surprises me how many cyclists are out there in the dark and rain with no lights

Had an MGIF this morning on St Georges Rd, Preston turning into the team depot. To avoid hitting him, went around the outside and carried on along the road instead of crossing to the shared path (was too late by then). On the bright side, it meant that I didn't have to stop at the eleventy billion pedestrian/bike crossing on the shared path and averaged 40km/h from Murray Rd-Merri Pde.

Saw a couple this morning on Rathdowne St. The worrying thing is that it's becoming normal to me and I'm no longer surprised.
