are you running a camera? maybe say "can we shoot that again?" and adjust the cam to get the point acrossfind_bruce wrote:Nearly found myself in a bit of strife this morning - some numpty parked his truck blocking the bike path. Thought for a minute that he was going to take a swing at me, but he was content to show off the limits of his vocabulary.

I too love to give it to !! BAN ME NOW FOR SWEARING !! but is it worth it? Sometimes my aggressiveness surprised myself.
Over time and situations I've come to the conclusion to look after no 1 and family.
It's just not worth the risk these days with not only !! BAN ME NOW FOR SWEARING !! but crazy dudes with knuckles, knives, bats, guns et al.

Almost certainly not worth it. Nothing to do with risk, more that is doesn't make me feel better nor does it change the drivers behaviour.Scott2468 wrote:No doubt riding increases testosterone.find_bruce wrote:Nearly found myself in a bit of strife this morning - some numpty parked his truck blocking the bike path. Feel sorry for the driver behind me when I made the above discoveries. Suspect that she may need new underwear, but am very grateful that she was giving me some space and had her eye out for mishaps!

I was a little surprised by my OTB on Wednesday that I managed to unclip without issue and didn't end up with a face plant. Surely part of that was the slow motion aspect though.
This morning was quite cool, a little bit of a surprise actually.
They've resealed our street so I've been breaking the law and riding the footpaths and taking a little detour to avoid some other resealed streets, once it's been swept and settles a bit more will be back on the roads and usual route again. The reseal is a spray seal, so there are plenty of loose rocks and there is a brown film of precoat over my tyres after only a short ride. I'd rather not.
The fixie along the foreshore path was the perfect weapon of choice for enjoying the ride

A female ped was almost ped roadkill into the cyclist in front of me on Elizabeth Street, Richmond when she stepped out into the bike lane without looking. He shouted at her to look, she startled, jumped back and then clearly had only one thought in her mind (to cross the road) that she failed to look AGAIN as she darted around behind him and continued crossing the road, not looking for me the cyclist behind the other cyclist. I and the other cyclist had a good headshake about peds with headphones in while waiting for the Hoddle Street lights.
In the city there were plenty of sheeples not thinking for themselves and trying to cross from the tram superstop in Elizabeth Street to the footpath while the light turned green for the other direction of traffic. I tell them to stop and look at the lights, but they look blankly at me and/or give me the death stare as they continue walking. Baaaaa!!! Sometimes I wonder whether people forgot to buy brains at the birth supermarket.

Vote early, vote often
I went to Town Hall to vote early, in my cycling gear. All the usual numpties with their propaganda leaflets. I was asked to "vote for Mike Baird". I could have responded that he is not in my electorate, but instead asked "is Duncan Gay still impersonating a Roads Minister?". Said numpty promptly withdrew the proffered leaflet. As usual no-one wanted to know what was important to you, but rather to tell you what was important to them.

Two near-misses in as many minutes, peversely these happened during the "long-cut" I take through Os Park to avoid the Hutton St fustercluck. Claimed the lane up to a roundabout, only to have Hatchback Girl cross the centre line to squeeze past anyway, only backing off at the very last second, followed by Commodouche guy cutting off the bend on Frobisher St for no reason that I can imagine other than casual intimidation. Hmph. I want a Fly6 now.

One where the tyre bead came off the rim- fixed then got to work, repumped up the tyre and it blew again - threw the tyre away- changed the front tyre (newish) onto the rear and a new (spare) tyre on the front- as I am putting the front tyre on the rear punctures (again) and goes flat- gave up on the rear, it was a puncture hole with no reason so getting a new rim strip before trying again.

I heard there was currently a court case by a PUP member that all the people's votes who voted early (I think this is in the VIC election) who didn't have a good reason for NOT voting on the actual voting day should have their votes discounted. I laughed. It took me 45 minutes to wait in line to vote early in the last State election as I didn't want to have to find a polling booth that was open at 6AM in the morning on the Saturday or try to find one out in the country/burbs.find_bruce wrote:I went to Town Hall to vote early, in my cycling gear. Lovely ride in this morning. The Sun is shining, there is a cold chill in the morning and blue skies with 28 or 29 degrees during the day. 3 days of this almost desert-like temperatures.

Glad you managed to avert disaster!tez001 wrote:Nearly got cleaned up by a taxi this morning, coming down Victoria Rd, Rozelle in the bus lane, a taxi decides to change from the second lane to the bus lane. I had about 2 metres to spare, road was slightly damp and rear locked up momentarily.

It was more of the same last night and this morning as it was yesterday. Glorious riding conditions and spectacular blue skies!
Last night a fellow cyclist asked where I got my riding skirt from, so I was doing my brand ambassador duties (not that I'm a brand ambassador or anything) and gave her the word-of-mouth recommendation. And this morning I gave good karma by telling a motorist that his rear passenger seatbelt was hanging out the door and dragging on the ground. He thanked me as he hopped out to fix it up. The good karma was paid back as I still managed to get the Hoddle Street green light even after stopping to tell him about his seatbelt. Winning!
It is great riding a bike!
