Rain jacket that can fit over backpack?

Rain jacket that can fit over backpack? So when it rains, I don't mind so much getting wet, but I really want to keep my backpack dry. I currently have a raincoat that works really well for this - it's huge so goes right over my backpack and has a cord at the bottom so I can do it up very tightly at my waist, so even the bottom of the backpack gets covered. Problem is, it's dark green, so has extremely bad visibility. Anyone happen to know of any rain jackets/coats that would be suitable for riding with that is hi-vis and will cover my backpack entirely? Perhaps I need separate items for this... I think I've seen backpack covers, but was hoping for a cheap solution.
Re: Rain jacket that can fit over backpack?Try spending $5 on a really, really big hi-vis vest and wear that over the top. Otherwise, Carradice make a yellow rain cape which might suit your needs.

Re: Rain jacket that can fit over backpack? Why not try some 3M scotchlite reflective tape ? You can get it from ebay in small strip quantities, or IIRC Supercheap has some packaged in bubble wrap for about $4.00 per 1 metre (look around the number plate frames). Should stick on a raincoat okay (the supercheap stuff stuck real well on my helmet) - but you'd need to be mindful of placement so that it was visible both when sitting up and down on the drops.
Either that, or it's time to think about waterproof panniers (ortliebs etc.,.) - you do enough km to justify the cost WombatK - Jerry Garcia, Grateful Dead

Re: Rain jacket that can fit over backpack?Try getting a cover for the backpack. My Blackwolf backpack has its own reflective cover for when it rains.

Re: Rain jacket that can fit over backpack?Kathmandu have their end of year sales on. A rain cover for a backpack 25L is $12.95. Available in black or fluorescent yellow, both with reflective markers and a tag for attaching a light.
Re: Rain jacket that can fit over backpack? Thanks for the replies guys, I will check out the Kathmandu sale, sounds like they have some good stuff. Reflective tape on my current raincoat sounds like a good idea but I'm not sure that will increase overall visibility enough.

Re: Rain jacket that can fit over backpack?i keep a cover in my camelbak that i pop out when it rains, its a blackwolf one (came with a $20 blackwolf backpack) but it fits perfectly over my Camelbak MUle and also camelbak blowfish. I have never got anything at all wet when the cover was on even in the most torrential rain. I think camelbak and also topeak make some specific ones, but check out Kathmandu as $12 sounds cheap.
