Here's my recently-acquired 2015 Trek 7.2 FX which I've commuted on a couple of times now and have otherwise used for general fitness/pleasure:

(Yes, I know I should weed my pavers...no it's not a priority!)

I can't get comfortable on drop bars so it's flat bars for me thanks! It's been close to 20 years since I've ridden in any meaningful way so I'm loving being back on a bike; far more than I expected to be.

Nice one Marco, congrats on getting back into it. Just easy yourself into it and you'll enjoy it. If you try and pull the hard stuff straight up, it could turn you off. Its been over 12 months since I got back into cycling and I love it.

I first started on a mountain bike, however after a month or so I converted to a road bike. Dont discount the road bike too soon, give it another go, and believe it or not, you can get comfortable on a road bike provided its the right size etc.

In November, I started commuting seriously and only catch the bus now when its raining or I am hung over / drunk.

Here is my commuter, which I just added a rack to.

This is one of the main go to as far as commuting, not a light weight by any means but light enough to have fun with the wide tires and disc brakes.

Originally I had one of those fixie pedals with wide clearance and nipples, but just found it too weird  .

My modest commuter. A keen eye will see the Fly6 on the rear and the AS100V Actioncam up front.

If (touch wood) I get hit on Sydney roads, you'll have multiple points of footage!

I've been riding on it for only the last 3 weeks and haven't taken it down a serious hill yet so honestly, I'm not 100% sure how it would handle. From what I have been riding, it's been great when putting the power down on the road and it's felt stable as a rock around corners. I've taken it up to 58km/hr on the flats of Anzac Parade and it hasn't caused any concern just yet. The only thing I would change is the rims as an out of nowhere crosswind can really give you a bit of a jump.

The reviews looked fine for it when I was doing research on purchasing it and if these seller reviews are to be believed then it's a good handler?

I'm coming from a $300 Reid Osprey to a $3000 Fuji so anything feels better than that :)

Hey Rheicel, I know you are prob up to bike 21 or 22 by now but a year on from this xacd build how is it going?

I'm particularly interested in the fork you went with as it matches the bike beautifully. Is a xacd fork or something else ( is it carbon or Ti)?

Cheers. Rod

Hey Rod,
Bike is now 8000 km old (about 18 months)
Fork is also XACD Ti.
Bike still looks new aside from some cable rubs. The mileage is mainly from commuting and occasional Audax Rides.

Bike will be stripped soon for a full service! I think she deserves it. Chain and pads have been replaced ones.

Bike #21 and #22 are on their way. They are both carbon though :)

Cheers,
RheiCel

Trialling some new unused panniers I had that seem to match nicely. Some reservations so it's on trial and jury is out.
I liked the previous handlebar bag fitted as saddle bag, one click removable, compartment organisation, can fit everything I needed, and mostly I can see the Tubus Ti rack that makes me Ti(ngle) in special places :D

What's the motivation for cable actuated hydraulic brakes, standard UCI CX requirement or benefits?
hey, They are the stock giant bars. might be the angle that makes them look thinner.
They came with stock BB7 brakes which i didnt like the feel of so switch the the hydraulic for better modulation.

I just bought a new bike to become my dedicated commuter. I have a single speed for fun rides, but needed a machine to get around without need for backpack. Gooing to get some combination flat/clipless pedals for this one.

The Merida coming along nicely.... Shimano dynamo hub, B&M front and rear lights, custom seat, rack, Garmin (just because), bags, reflective tape so I can actually be seen on a black bike at night, custom grips, Selle SMP saddle. nice wide tyres. 35k's each way and it rides comfy and still reasonably fast despite being around 14KG in current form.....

Another one of those high-vis commuter types. Ultegra equipped flat bar is my weapon of choice - with panniers :D

I bought the frame forks and wheels and built up the rest of it from a mix of spare parts from my mountain bikes.
It's heavy, but it's great/sturdy on the roads. The only thing I'm considering is moving to drop bars as I always find myself wanting different hand positions after about 15km's in the saddle.

I gave my commuter a make over today.

From this

To this. Will soon be fitted with a set of Surly Krampus rigid forks.

With the help of this

I also fitted some 29x2.5 Maxxis Highrollers. I used to commute on the 26in versin years ago and loved them.
