St George's Rd CycloCross!!

Not having commuted for a few weeks was not expecting the bike path down the centre of St George's Rd (Melbourne for non-Melb folks) to have a section under repair.
Cyclists detoured onto the grass which had been churned into a mud pit. With fully laden panniers on a flat bar road with skinny tyres, I was slipping and a sliding all over the place.
I appreciate the repairs, but was not anticipating the off-road bit! If I'd known I would've jumped on the road when I had the chance before I got to the closed section.
