I don't know but they get up to 30kph in bursts. They're great fun when you come up alongside because it spurs them on.

no. this is the first climb outbound on the western fwy bikeway (from anzac park). the bike path all looks the same along there

Did the path start getting steeper toward the end, or did he just blow up? Are you lighter than him?

I not the biggest fan of CCR in my middle age and so I don't go looking for it. But I passed this older guy (60s?) who looked like a full blown racer (by the legs and gear). Looks like I caught him napping, because once I passed he was in CCR mode. Although he didn't catch me over the next ~1Km (I could see him in the mirror) I had to put in such an effort to keep him away, that I needed to stop pedaling to have a rest when he turned off (which I'm glad he did).

Another time I passed a guy at the same point as above who was on a SS and who had the legs of a track racer. This guy jumped onto my wheel into a head wind then convincingly passed me a Km or two later and kept going.

I was also passed on the flat by a woman some months ago who had huge legs. So big were her legs that she almost looked like a guy. Her legs were bigger than the average guy and she had track bars on. So I suspect she was a track racer. She was also coasting when she passed me, just to add to the insult. I didn't bother following her up the next hill, choosing to take another path as I didn't want to be humiliated any further.

These days being 18Kg or whatever lighter and riding in a mainly flat area (SOP, Parramatta river) I find CCR harder than I used to. I've got less peak speed on the flats (although faster overall) and really need to wait for the hills to confidently pass someone of similar pace. If I see someone coming up in the mirror on the flat, it's generally all over already since I won't be able to outpace them. And these days I'm more reluctant to try. But the hills are obviously more interesting for me. I had one roadie that passed me on the flat to find I could catch him on the next hill.
