Commuting along the Nepean highway?

I know only a selection of commuters here are from Melbourne, but I was wondering if there are any who ride Nepean highway regularly into the CBD? And I mean on the actual road, not the crappy cycle lane/footpath off to the side.

From driving on it regularly it would seem like a death sentence...especially during peak hour. Though most days I would be riding inbound from 10:30 onwards so I guess that's outside peak time. From my experience most of the nutters seem to stick to the outside right lanes. But a lot of trucks use the road as well.

Anyone with some experiences to share?

Nepean Hwy is one to be avoided on a bike or in a car, too many traffic lights. I'm lucky in that I normally enter it at Glenhuntly Rd, occasionally Rusden St but it's not a good road to be riding down. The bike path would be ok if it wasn't so uneven.
