Ride from Bayswater WA

Postby Roost » Wed Aug 24, 2011 8:48 pm

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a ride completely on Paths from Bayswater WA? Would like to take advantage of quality bike paths such as the Kwinana freeway. Is it possible to ride South on the Tonkin from the bridge, across the Leach or Roe to Kwinana and then head North until it meets the railway line track back to Bayswater all on bike path or vast majority on bike path?

Kind Regards,

I'm not 100% sure about the Tonkin, because although it has a hard shoulder with painted cycle path signs, they tend to dissapaer near major junctions and bridges. You could always try it, ride from the bridge along to Roe, down Roe until you get to Welshpool road and then join up with the dedicated cycle path.
Or you could always make your way through the suburbs to the intersection of Welshpool road and Roe highway, there is a nice bike path that runs the full length of Roe highway down to the freeway. You fiollow it around to Farrington road bridge, cross over the bridge and this puts you onto the freeway bike path to Mandurah.
the return trip would be to follow the freeway path back into South Perth and then follow the path along the river back to Bayswater.

Where in Bayswater are you? You can get on the PSP that runs along the rail line, then follow the path through the city (or just ride straight down Milligan Street - it's more direct) get on the path down near the Convention centre, follow the signs to the Narrows, pop over that and ride down the freeway to Mandurah. It's 83ks.
