Rate my Route! Vic: South East.

Postby compleks » Wed Feb 15, 2012 8:22 am

Hey guys and girls.
I'm starting a new job in a month and plan on riding to and from work. I need help selecting a route though.
I've started riding more recently, but always off peak times. I have a month before I start, so plenty of time to try out a few different routes anyway.

This is my proposed route.
http://maps.google.com.au/maps/ms?msid= ... 2,0.081024
I ride the first half of the route regularly, up to Malvern road, but the rest is unknown territory. I'm also unfamiliar with the route during peak hour traffic.
Although I will probably be leaving just before 7am for an 8am start at work.

Any advice and suggestions are appreciated.
Cheers.

Hi Compleks,

I live just the other side of McKinnon station and ride a very similar route. My only variation is to stay on Tooronga rd and join in with the Gardiner's Creek trail just the other side of the Monash.

It's a perfectly acceptable route, Booran Rd is nice and wide, I use the underpass at Dandenong Rd and Tooronga Rd has a bike lane the whole way (Surface is a bit rough between Wattletree and High St.

Safe Riding!

Haha, X. I can't believe I didn't notice that.

Disc. Cool to hear from someone else riding the same route!
I'll stick to Tooronga and join the trail there, I haven't ridden it before, so didn't know if it all joined. That's good news.
I know what you mean about the bike path on Tooronga, it's rubbish. Especially the other side when heading south.

Thankss for the advice :)
