I have made it a point since November 6, 2008 only arive at work and leave work via unicycle, doing, in the process, at least the basic 10km to and from the station. Though for a couple of years now I mostly I do the full ride in daily and half the time the full ride back so the value of that resolution now seem questionable anyway.

However I managed to screw up my knee which got infected. Had to take a couple of days off, still on antibiotics and it was well nigh impossible to bend the knee for long.

So, regrettably, my unbroken sequence of 1692 has been cut short by about 390 days. Bummer.

Much as I hate to fall back on excuses I think I'll give myself a free pass on this one.

Was feeling really good on Monday. Pulled up well after my hardest ride so far on Sunday. While half asleep lazily stretching Tuesday morning my neck went crack! Very limited range of movement and pretty constant discomfort / mild pain since. Grrrr... legs still feel good.

Anyone with a tandem want to bike-pool?

Lumbar disc is still giving me lip, it's been two weeks since it officially became unmanageable and I've been off the bike. I've had to fill my car up twice this month now. It is just a low-level drag and my tolerance for everything and everyone is rice-paper thin. I keep having to stop myself at work mid-sentence and say to people "I'm usually much nicer than this I promise". I McGyvered myself a standing workstation out of a wheely bin and I've started having dreams about my wheat bag. Physio is helping, my mortal horror and impatience with this kind of old-lady problem isn't. Spring corporate challenge starts next week. Suckity, poo, bum, wang

As well as a hand injury from a low-side (almost healed) I am being kept from commuting on my bike because of the fact that the bike is in the shop for servicing.

While being looked over, the mechanic took the brake pads out too heat them and drive any water out of them as they were squeaking. While he did this, the brake pad separated from the metal plate, so now that's a warranty claim to process.

Hopefully I will get it Friday?

Almost healed? almost healed as you can ride? OR not healed enough?

If it's healed enough and you're just waiting for a bike, then DENIED

N+1 is the answer

if you're still not physically well enough, then ok

geez, I'm tough

Almost healed as in I can put pressure on the palm, but a rough surface would be.... unpleasant... to say the least.

Plus, the Financial Controller has nixed any suggestions of a "backup" bike (endurance road bike) for the moment.

My theory is that she likes riding her terrible rescued steel Repco MTB, and will like riding rail trails even more if we get her a suitable steed.... Which means *I* can then get a new bike, too!

I feel compelled to seek forgiveness as I didn't ride into work today :( Last week I injured my heel /Achilles tendon at work while undertaking a yearly fitness test (of all things)..... Anyway, it didn't 100% heal on the weekend and the last two days I've taken the roadie into work because it's cheating (so easy to ride compared to the commuter), but my heal was only slowly healing, so decided to take the day off riding and try and get it to mend properly.

Damn work getting in the way of things again. :x

Baseball training today, where I am going to be attempting to work with some pitchers.

Didn't think transporting my full catcher's kit on the bike was going to be viable. Train instead.

Do I get a pass?

It's less a weight issue than a bulk issue. My kit bag is 36.5" long x 12" high x 14.5" wide. Weight is probably around 12 kilos (Bat, 2 x batting helmets, chest guard, catching helmet, leg guards, 2 x catcher's mitts)

Get a 42" long board ratchet strapped on for a base, bonus chill out kick and glide before getting serious with the catchers kit.

I had an honourable reason yesterday. 4 1/2 hours sleep, a very heavy backpack full of food for a team morning tea and it was raining when I left home. But since it was ride2work day, I had to ride anyway. I got an oversized fluro yellow jacket and wore it over my backpack so my work shirt wouldn't get wet. I rode all the way to ride2work day looking like a glorious fluro yellow camel.

You should remove the Bike Journal ticker off your sig CS, looks like you're not using it and diminishes your first impression to the hard nuts here =D
