Safest way from Eastwood to Sydney CBD during peak hour

Hi,

I am thinking to start riding the bike to work. What is the safest ways from Eastwood to Sydney CBD during peak hours in the morning and afternoon ?

Can be easily done mostly on shared paths and some queit streets.
Get to Vimiera Rd and head north to Waterloo Rd. East on Waterloo, into and through Macquarie Uni, coming out on Waterloo Rd at Talavera.

Ride east along Talavera to Wicks, turn right (south) along Wicks to Epping Rd, cross Epping Rd and turn left and you're on the Epping Rd cycleway all the way through to Willoughby/Naremburn.

Ride along past Hallstrom park and under Flat Rock Drive to Dawson St, West St and Hamilton Lane. Turn left up Palmer and right onto West St (again) heading south . Left onto Church Lane and Angelo St, left on berry, right on Miller St (this is the busiest part of the ride, you have to be on the road with traffic). Continue south on Miller which becomes Blues Pt Rd, left on Lavender, right on Alfred and you're at Milson's Pt station and the bridge cycleway.

This old fat slow bloke has done it a few times & its a quick trip - take the Alfred St exit, down High St, right into Clark Rd (which turns into Broughton St) under the bridge at Burton St & slog your way up the 50 stairs.

is there a similar route going back in the reverse direction ?
or just the one option of West St- Palmer-Hamilton - Flat Rock Creek?

Not that I know of

I go a slightly different way - West St Left at Amherst st then the somewhat hairy crossing of th on ramp coming from Brook St & continuing along the path using the overpass at Naremburn shops which takes you down to Flat rock

An alternative route to the Epping Rd cycleway which is a lot less direct but much more off road (which may or may not be important). Definitely not suitable for people who want fast road riding but suitable for people who want flatter and off road.

From Eastwood station, south on Railway Pde, cross First Ave, left on 2nd, duck right onto Young, left on Third, right on Rydalmere, left on Fourth, right on Denistone. Denistone hooks left, you can take that and right on Blaxland at the lights, or go straight and on the shared path through the park, then left on Terry, right on Blaxland at the lights,(or through and next right) left on Cecil, down the hill to the weird roundabout thingy. Hop on the footpath on the right side and cross North Rd, then a short stretch of footpath again, then right on Quarry. THose two crossings can be tricky with cars everywhere so if it's busy then give up and go left from Cecil onto North, go uphill around the teardrop and head down hill on Quarry.

Go through the roundabout and take the bike path on the left at the park, keep going, cross Bridge road, keep going, along Ford a bit, left onto the path again. The next road is Kent, go right on Kent down to Lane Cove Rd, left on the shared path alongside Lane Cove, then cross Lane Cove at Cox's Rd lights. Along Cox and left on Ryrie which will spit you out on Epping Rd. Unfortunately anywhere around here has a climb, so Cox's Rd or Epping Rd it's all uphill.

Another alternative would be in via Victoria Rd.

Get to Buffalo Rd at Top Ryde, then Ryde Rd to Hunters Hill, Over Tarban and Victoria using the shared path, Wrights/Renwick through Drummoyne.

Past there, you're on your own -- but there must be some who know a good option through the Balmain cycle path nightmare. Vic Rd bus lane?
