Flying with a bike

Postby ChocHarris » Wed Jul 15, 2009 8:08 am

Hi

I'm coming over to Australia from the UK for the world champs in September and was just looking for some inside information! I was looking at flying from London to Brisbane with Virgin who will take a bike box for free but have noticed that flying to Sydney is considerably cheaper but then it seems difficult to get from Sydney to Brisbane. The baggage allowance is the problem as the best I can find is 28kg which probably won't be enough. I know that over here some of our budget airlines will take a bike for about £25 each way but I can't find anything like that. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be grateful.

I understand that QF charges a fixed fee for bike boxes.
Bianchi, Ridley, Tern, Montague and All things Apple :)

Quantus charge per kg over the 23kg allowance. Thanks though.
