Postby Alex Simmons/RST » Sat Feb 28, 2009 8:06 am
With permission from forum owner.
OK, after getting some great feedback* from lots of you from this forum, we at RST have been working away to the wee hours on a solution to provide Training Plans.
RST Cyclist Training Plans are a suitable for all riders who want to maximise their training time on a limited budget, or perhaps want to trial what it's like to follow a sound training plan, without commiting to a full coaching relationship.
They are now ready!
Introductory offer:
13-week plans (AT) $11.50 per week.
To find out more, click on one of the RST ads you can see from any of this forum's directory pages and you'll be directed to a site that explains all the details. For example, this page listing cycling clubs:

There was an error in the mailto: email address, which is fixed now.
Weird, I fixed it yesterday as well.
Anyway, the link can be obtained by clicking on the RST ad on any of the forum directory pages, such as this one:

Glad you like it.JCR wrote:I recently received mine from Alex.
It's good.
But the proof will be in the eating so let us know how you go with it.

Oh my, I'll have to subscribe to Alex's paper too to replace those horror tasting goos.JCR wrote:Yes sogood, I have decided to eat the plan on paper and see if I can get any gains, instead of actually doing the hard work like a sucker.

OK, so I left out "of the pudding" from this common phrase.
But hey, if you want to pay me to send you a piece of paper to chew on....

I may have to resort to that when I get desperate. Never discount the effect of placebo while buddists eat incense ash to make them invincible.Alex Simmons/RST wrote:But hey, if you want to pay me to send you a piece of paper to chew on....

Yes, as Deanj and one or two others discovered, there was a typo in my email address on the site which was corrected.Deanj wrote:I noticed something wrong in Alex's link and was meant to send a pm, however I accidentally clicked on 'reply'

It's going great, just starting week 8.
Won my first crit on the weekend with my average HR what I normally can sustain for 100km, so I think I will be upgraded next race, maybe even I shot at winning B grade??
Sat on the front for half a lap then sprinted from a fair bit out, (about 2-300m) and hit a PB sprint speed of 63km on the flat.
Is a great testament to Alex's training plans. Having only been cycling for 3-4months with training in the last 8 weeks by Alex's plan.

How much training are you getting in? I'd love to have a crack at this but am worried I'm simply not getting enough km in. With commitments, uni and seeing the Mrs as we tend to be ships in the night I'm having a hard time getting out on the bike for long periods. I'm on the trainer now a few times a week and trying to get in a good ride or two with climbs where possible on the weekends. So about 5-7 hours per week roughly.

You can do well with 5-7 hours per week, just need to use them wisely.

How much of that could be attributable to the recent training? What was your previous top speed in similar condition?
