Firstly Im not a fan of Powerbars, the taste doesnt do anything for me and whilkst I have had them usually my stomache doesnt like them.

Usualyl onlong rides or pro longed sports activity I go for buns, quiche and other quick snacks like K-Time bars and eat that I can digest quickly without feeling heavy etc.

Are there other decent bars around that taste good as well as give me enough nutrition for pro longed rides?

Anything over 1.5hrs I would eat a snack, maybe a bannana or a museli bar.

Ive never had gels previously and wondering what your opinions on bars and gels are....

Cheers

Rob

commercially made bars are usually like trying to eat a brick and while gels are good for a quick boost but you'll still feel hungry, so make your own bars

so the bars are working out well Jeremy? Do you just cut the mix up into chunks and wrap it in glad wrap or something for rides?

They work very well for me, I make a big batch of them, cut them into musli bar sized chunks and wrap them in glad wrap and leave them in the fridge/freezer until I need them. I always take one of them and a banana for rides > ~60km.

yep they're good

made a batch, cut into bars then put em in glad wrap - some in the freezer and some in the fridge.

Compare the difference between a power bar and an uncle toby's muesli bar.

Two muesli bars = roughly one powerbar. the only difference being protein (being about 4 grams per powerbar)
