Ok, I've lashed out on the T7 special, and nabbed myself a set of rollers (and aim to eventually mimic the 'motion rollers' that have been discussed elsewhere), but first things first.
What is the best way to learn how to ride these suckers ???
I am not able to set myself up in a doorway, but can have a workbench beside me at a good height.
- start off in a low gear
- persist for 5 minutes, and then have a break
- keep going until you finally get it
- wear normal shoes rather than clip in
- focus on a spot ahead, or look down
- anything else ???
I can't try CoffsGal's version of a few glasses of chardy beforehand as I don't drink, so I'll be stone cold sober.
Any help or hints would be greatly appreciated

I'd say the door idea has merit over a bench as you can comfortably crash to either side.
Starting off in low gear should help with balance until it becomes programmed into you.
No idea otherwise, but I'd love to see the video
...whatever the road rules, self-preservation is the absolute priority for a cyclist when mixing it with motorised traffic.

Rollers are evil things. Start off on a lowish gear but not too low, something that gives you a bit of 'drive' so you're not flailing about. A dining chair with a high back on the other side of the workbench if you can't do it in the doorway. Get your rhythm up before letting go of your support.
I jumped on the T7 special and grabbed some rollers too.
I just used a high back chair like Rockford suggested and was up and running in 5 minutes. I think the trick is to pedal in a smooth circular motion, keep the speed up and stay light on the hands. Make sure the hub is centred over the front roller when looking from above, otherwise it does get very twitchy!
Im finding the Helmet only gets used once a week these days the majority of my miles are spent in the garage on the Ipod. Definately the best $200 ive spent on cycling.

And re drinking again. It's been 3 1/2 years now, and I'm much healthier
just a quick question, for those of you who keep riding logs, do you record your trainer/roller hours/kms along with your outdoor riding? or do you have a seperate log for them?
I have a seperate log for mine, but was just interested to see how other guys keep track of it.
