Where to from here?

Postby kibnedyo » Tue Aug 25, 2009 2:24 am

Back into riding after long absence at 46yo.

Aim is to get fitter, lose weight and to complete Around The Bay in 2010. Have just got a new road-bike to make committment serious.

Currently 2.5 months into bike return. Have done 1000klms in this time on MTB, building up to 100-130klms a week on rail trail type tracks.

There are a couple of road groups in town, but I probably have a bit to learn about group riding and they are basically weekend groups ranging 60-100klm Sat &/or Sundays.

What should I aim at during the week as an initial program and when should I start to build up for October 2010 ride of 200klms?

That depends on a lot of things.
Ride 5 days/week.
Consistency
Gradual increase in workload (duration and intensity).
