Causal Cyclist put me on to a podcast series, Couch to 5k, which is a running interval program. I tried out the Week 1 podcast this morning on the bike, cycling hard when it says to run. The program is written for running so first week consists of a 5 minute warm-up, one minute interval, 90 seconds recover, one minute interval (repeated six times I think, maybe nine times) and finally a cool down of five minutes. I guess the later weeks would be more intense, maybe longer intervals etc.
Anyway, my question is, are short intervals like this okay for cycling training. I am really training for endurance, general improvement in cycling performance and for sprint and hill points on the Saturday group rides
Thoughts?

Andrew
