I've had great results using a plan from Alex (3 medals at state track champs) using just heart rate. I've now started doing another plan using power.

Yup just ask Alex...try one of his 13 week one off plans if you want to be careful with money.

Yup, can also recommend Alex. I'm halfway through one of his power-based plans, including rental of a power meter and I can see the results already.
