DOMS

Is DOMS a good thing after hard or long training?

Does it mean you have "over reached" and will recover stronger?

Does it mean you have done too much too soon?

Just curious about peoples responces.

It is a normal thing in my opinion...break'em down, build em back stronger.Although my DOMS that were quite painful for 6 months!...turns out they wern't DOMS at all...36 hours after visiting the Professor I am thinking of going for a bike ride!...and I spent 5 hour up a ladder yesterday hammering my hammies clearing my hedge of blackberries!.
PS...I expect it depends on the degree of soreness...if my legs felt like wood I wouldn't ride.

Very helpful TLL.

I did resistance training for 6 months without focussing on a muscle group, and there was no DOMS at all. Since breaking my routine into three discrete muscle-focussed routines, back and bis, chest and tris, and legs, I always get DOMS. From my experience, gradual hypertrophy does not cause DOMS, and results in endurance and size without much strength. DOMS results in increased strength.

You shouldnt have any localised soreness in your quads after a ride, but with resistance training, it's normal. If you didnt get DOMS, i'd say you didnt train hard enough
