How many Watts do you produce?

How many Watts do you produce?Out of interest, what sort of wattage are people putting out here?
I only just realised the cycling machines in our gym (which i use 3-4 times a week) have a wattage reading. Yesterday i did a 60 minute program with the resistance increasing every 10 min. Started off at about 120 watts, then the by the last 10 min was on level 12 averaging 95rpm at 260 watts. interested to hear what others make, gives me an even greater respect for the power the pros put out, i know the last 10 min was not sustainable over much longer a time, so i must've been over my LT.
Re: How many Watts do you produce?Lots, but it's a meaningless number to compare as it's only relevant to weight or frontal area. I'm around 3.5W/kg (bad) but my 350W means I'm pretty dangerous downhill or on the flat. And I still have lots of flab to lose (yes, I know I said I would start doing that months ago, but I kept on getting sick over winter).
I ride, therefore I am.

Re: How many Watts do you produce?
More than you
Re: How many Watts do you produce?
that is kinda like a MAP test and you're never going to produce your maximum under those circumstances. for example my MAP is about 370 but 5 second max is over 1000. you should proably also quote your weight (i'm 72kg)
Re: How many Watts do you produce?Last MAP test was 480 watts...FTP was over 360...but my best numbers were 30 sec and 1 minute power.
Now if I was my target 82 kgs I would have pretty good numbers...but as I am closer to 100kgs my numbers are pretty crap Numbers are good for tracking your progress...but a bit pointless in comparing to others. Also your own numbers need to be taken in context...you may have a max 5 sec of 1400 but only be able to produce 1100w in an actual sprint after a hard race etc. Still I would rather have the numbers than not My ftp now is probably about 275 PS...I was a on gym machine yesterday as well...it was so far out it wasn't even worth looking at the numbers...in other words they are often RUBBISH.
Re: How many Watts do you produce?Meaningful power numbers have to be associated with a time frame. No one can do 1000W for 20mins, let alone 5mins. 20mins sustained power is a common reference for comparison. Otherwise the stationary bikes in gyms are typically not well calibrated, but can be useful if you use the same machine over time.

Re: How many Watts do you produce? As I ride to and from work on my unicycle, I hear pedestrians behind me saying "What the..", "What the..." "What the..."
So, yeah, I'd say I generate about 10 whats per day. Unicyclist's don't need a training wheel
Re: How many Watts do you produce? My current FTP is 314W, but that is going down steadily due to laziness. My weight is currently at 93kg, which is going up steadily too. Due to laziness. I really need to get the motivation to start training again, motivation is at an all time low.
Re: How many Watts do you produce?
What are your future "goal" races or events? Do you have training partners?.
Re: How many Watts do you produce?I had a 200w crank drive electric kit when I started out. There is this hill near me that I could only get up in first, helping the motor. The motor is now long gone and my best effort is getting up the same hill in third.
Once you can climb hills on a bike it's all downhill.
Hopefully I'll know what that's like..... one day. ![]()
Re: How many Watts do you produce?
Train or I'll come and harass you! Did that help? I ride, therefore I am.

Re: How many Watts do you produce?
Well I've got noosa coming up, somehow that still can't motivate me! I used to be so motivated, training at least 4hrs a day. Now I groan at a one hour swim
Re: How many Watts do you produce?I'm 80kg, but hoping to get to 75kg or so in the next few months training up for more riding in Summer.
Might do a bit more online research on this, seems like a good training tool to monitor wattage.
