Does anyone use annything like this?
Does it help?
I understand the theory behind it, but surely if you were sleeping like this most nights, you'd end up fairly buggered?

Re: What the Hell is this s***?Sleep high, train low...works for some (apparently)...not for others.
Yes very tiring...you don't do it every night.Say a block for 2 or 3 weeks then recover for a week or so before an event (apparently).
Re: What the Hell is this s***?Many many people live at altitude, so clearly people can just live in those cocoons 24/7. But unless they are at the prof level, that's a pretty desperate measure.

Re: What the Hell is this s***?Very true...but if you lived in Salt Lake or Bogota you probably wouldn't bother buying one.
It seems that athletes who live at altitude do well in events at altitude where as the ones who live closer to sea level struggle sometimes with going high. But when racing at closer sea level things are pretty even.
Re: What the Hell is this s***?Developed by australian sports physiologists. Prior to this, elite athletes had to have access to great fixed and expensive hyperbaric chambers or some such. Otr live in places thay did not want to.

Re: What the Hell is this s***?Most have used them as an excuse to cover the real reason their hemocrit has risen so much...funnily you don't hear talk of them so much anymore
Re: What the Hell is this s***?Toolonglegs has it right though - altitude training (or simulated altitude) only provides benefit for races conducted at altitude. It provides little benefit for races at sea level (or so the current research says anyway!)

Re: What the Hell is this s***?...and funnily enough Enrico Rossi has been popped this week for having a "tent" in Italy.
Yes Rossi...brother of The Cobra's ex wife who was popped for CERA but got off because the 2nd sample tested negative (it had traces of CERA...just not enough for a positive).
