After a hell of a lot of dates not lining up, other rides to do, procrastination and time finally permitting.... i finally did my maiden trip to Coot-tha this afternoon. Rode from Belmont out to Coot-tha, did the back first.... cruised across the top and down the front-side, then turned around and did it in reverse, front-side then back on descent.... then back to Belmont.

10.48 for the Back..... pretty happy with that for first time out. It's definitely a bit of a grind that's for sure.

more than a respectable start osrg

went up again yesterday and today but this time on my new (read: heavier) tyres. even though it's only a small amount of extra weight I have noticed it.
yesterday I did a half and half (first half in 34-21, second half in 34-21). this morning was in 34-19 all the way. one speedo-gonsales passed me on the way up. oh and it was freezing on the way down.

There's time's I've felt like I might need an ambulance going up Mt Cootha... I guess heart attacks do happen. Most likely a downhill crash though, hope its not too bad.

Has anybody seen the Irish flag and small memorial on Simpsons Rd, just before the back climb up cootha? What is the story behind that?

seems a popular spot if its a left hander then right as you come down, it tightens up.
already a memorial there and also where that lady longboarder died a few months ago.

I have to get up there again ! not too keen on lots of extra miles after leaving work at 6pm in this cold weather, 25-30kms is enough. Would like to see if I can improve on my previous PB 9m50, now have lighter and tubeless Ultegra wheels with Hutchinson Fusion tyres.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Apparently it does happen up that way.

If you came along afterwards all you'd see is a guy/girl who looked like they had crashed.

That is pure gluttony ..... well done ..... have stayed away from the climbs this week, did Nebo sunday and easy rest week. Road race on Sunday and need to save the legs.
I'll be back there next week to have an attempt at cracking the elusive 9

fantastic time, to be on the 1st page on cootha is amazing.
that is a very good power output for your weight for such a long period.

for his weight? come on. I'm almost the same height and have 20kgs on him.
that weight puts him close to pro-territory.
