I'm fairly new to a trainer, and find myself trying to work out my perfect FTP setting still, so that I'm fully spent after a consistant session. A recent training session was finally really tough to finish, so I figured that setting was good. I had a trainer session today, 5x 3:36 intervals at 120% FTP each, with 7:12 recovery time at 60% FTP. My results were 119%, 116%, 117%, 113%, 113%, so obviously struggled a lot with that.
My question is, is it OK to see this trailing off in training on a day where maybe I'm a little off my best, or is this still a quality session, and OK as long as some days I do get to 120% on all five intervals?

Still a quality session, the ability to hold the power will come with time. First 2-3 times I do the intervals I generally struggle a lot then after that I get more consistent. You are probably aiming for a bit high also seen as though you never hit 120%
