Good Rides just out of sydney
Postby TREKKER_MIKE » Wed Oct 23, 2013 7:05 pm
Looking for some good rides just out of sydney (so i can drive there) have a nice quiet drive with minimal traffic, and take in the scenery, perhaps some good hills in there too for some training, just looking to change up the training scenery

An excellent workout too - no shortage of elevation change, especially when you add them together.

Can you be more specific about goid Camden ride routes?MREJ wrote:Royal Nat Park, West Head, 3 Gorges, north, south and west of Camden, Berry and Kangaroo Valley (best choice for hills). There is a good book from Bicycling Australia called Where to Ride with these and more.

- Northern Rd is good with clean shoulders
- Luddenham/Mulgoa/Wallacia/Bringelly loop
- Razorback (old and new)
- Barkers Lodge Rd to Oakdale
- 15k downhill on Burragorang Rd
- Mayfarm Rd
- Menangle Rd (can start at Glen Alpine)
- loop Picton/Tahmoor/back roads through Yerrinbool to Alpine and back via Balmoral
The only dud is Camden Valley Way, which is dangerous and unpleasant

I think you might want to come along for a ride to Bathurst via Fitz

It's a good idea to have both head and tail lights, especially in the southern end, which is very shaded.

I had planned on leaving real early to hopefully get there well before most people have risen on a Saturday morning, or will be having their first coffee.
I always have head & tail lights, so will be having them running for sure.
