Question about anomalous heart rate

Postby ausrandoman » Thu Dec 12, 2013 6:07 am

I went for a 2 hour training ride yesterday. I felt unusually tired when I got home. When I downloaded the data from my Garmin, I saw that my power figures were normal but my average heart rate was 139, quite a bit lower than the 150 - 160 I usually get for a ride of that duration.

Any ideas what caused this, what it might mean?

I've been told that it means you are fatigued.

Funnily enough same thing is happening to me this week, legs are taking allot to get going, but ok once going.
My eating has been very intermittent (poor) this week and my HR seems to have a 'limiter' on it. I suspect a long build up of fatigue combined with poor food intake is the result. I'm going to take 1-2 weeks off the bike over xmas, the head is just as beat up as the body.

You don't say how old you are. I'm 52 and went for a 55km ride today. Avg speed 29.6 km/h and avg heart rate 130bpm. Max 162bpm. My maximum heart rate is around 171bpm.

I am having the same issue.

Resting HR is up around 53 instead of 45 for last 4-5 days.

I cannot get HR up on trainer, normally sits at 145-150 for efforts, it struggles to get much over 130 for efforts!!!!

I am 46, max HR is 170-175. I think my LHR is around 150-155.

I have not ridden for 4 days now, as I thought I must be tired, fatigued or overreached. I do ride a lot otherwise, and do a lot of E3,E4 riding.

Has your HR come back to normal? Has your RHR come back down? How long did it take?

Sorry I am fairly new to all this, still learning, but seem to know that my body is not doing what it normally does.

Thanks

James

I have no particular expertise on the subject. All I can say is that I notice similar changes if I have been training heavily or if I am mildly unwell. Either way, 2 - 3 days or even a week of rest or, at most, easy rides gets everything back to normal.
