Training Tools

Postby auswi2 » Sat Feb 15, 2014 6:02 pm

I have been doing some research on different Garmin Cycling Computers as I am looking to upgrade and I want to get advise from real everyday users.

I currently have a Edge 500 which serves me well. I was looking at the 810 but the only difference I can see is that is has mapping but so does my smart phone so I know where I am and a good idea of the way to get home. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

I do like the 510 because of the touch screen and Bluetooth so it can connect to my Galaxy S4 for possible bad weather and also connecting to the strava app. And the other feature I like is my wife can see where I am and If I am moving in case something bad happens.

Can I ask your thoughts on the 510 and 810 and how you find it and if you have used the 500 before upgrading

Thanks

Surely there are other riders who have used the 500 and now use the 510 or 810

Thanks

I had an 800 and a 500. Have upgraded the 500 to a 510 and am glad I did, for the exact features you mention, tracking and linking.
The tracking is not 100% with my i5, but 90%+ of the time it works fine.

I don't miss the maps really, can upload a course to the 510 and follow the route line just no streets shown.

I even use the 510 in the car on long drives, Bris-Syd or Bris-Roma etc just so wife knows where I am.

Just gotta remember to delete the file before connecting to Strava.........

Are you taliking about the ride data file as i understand that can be auto sent to Garmin connect once you hit stop. As I use both Strava and Garmin Connect do I need to delete the ride??

Thanks
